Paul Helfman, President
Paul Helfman is the president and one of the founding owners of Helfman, Davis & Schmidt CPAs, apc. Paul has 32 years of experience in public accounting in the tax, audit, estate and trust areas. He has experience working with closely-held businesses in industries that include manufacturing, retail, wholesale, real estate, law firms, doctors, and technology.
Paul received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1984 and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of California. He worked for the Big 4 accounting firm Deloitte in Costa Mesa, CA for five years before moving to New York City to work at local firms until 1993 when he started his own practice.
Paul has also completed the certificate program at California State University, Fullerton for professional fiduciary management for trustees in August 2010, and is a professional trustee.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of CPAs, and the Professional Fiduciary Association of California. He holds a California insurance license.
Paul and his wife, Marci, enjoy spending time with their three sons, watching movies, and traveling.
Scott Davis, Founding Owner
Scott Davis, EA is a founding owner of Helfman, Davis & Schmidt CPAs, apc. Scott has over 25 years of experience in tax and public accounting. He provides tax planning and handles most of the IRS audits for the firm. He has extensive experience with high net worth individuals, family owned businesses and small to midsize corporations. Scott Davis, EA received his education from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN and went on to become a founding member of Helfman, Davis & Clanton
Christopher Schmidt, Partner
Christopher J. Schmidt provides Helfman, Davis & Schmidt CPAs with over a decade of experience in individual and corporate tax compliance.
Chris holds a business degree with an emphasis in accounting from California State University, Fullerton, and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of California. His experience in tax and accounting encompasses individual, partnership and corporate tax working with companies in the following industries: manufacturing, construction, mortgage banking, staffing, professional services, and real estate. Mr. Schmidt strives to provide all his clients with exceptional service with a personal touch while using his business acumen to break down the complexities of tax law.
Mr. Schmidt has been married since 2016 and welcomed his first child, Evelyn in 2019. He enjoys spending his leisure time with his family, and friends. His hobbies include playing basketball, watching the Dodgers, fishing, and camping.
